Track Competes at USMMA
KINGS POINT, N.Y. (4/14/07) - Sophomore
Sherene Stephens (Orange, N.J.) won the 100-meter
hurdles to lead the Kean University track and field teams at the
Seventh Annual Bill Omeltchenko Track Meet at USMMA-Kings Point on
Saturday afternoon.
Stephens won the hurdles in a season-best time of 16.60 seconds
and also placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.34
meters (33-11.25).
Senior Liz Bauer (Rahway, N.J.) finished second
in the javelin throw (33.00m/108-03), while sophomore Erin
Jones (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) recorded top five
finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (17.62), high jump (1.42m/4-7.75)
and pole vault (2.65m/8-8.25).
Sophomore Demeka Pressley (Trenton,
N.J.) qualified for the ECAC Championships in the
400-meter dash, as she placed sixth in a time of 1:00.51. She
also was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.42) and sixth in the
long jump (4.58m/15-00.5).
In the distance events, sophomore Stephanie Sinclair
(Ridgefield, N.J.) and junior Anna Khorosheva
(Ocean, N.J.) each had 11th place finishes, as
Sinclair crossed the finish line in 6:05.89 in the mile and
Khorosheva competed in the 3000-meter run (11:53.90).
In the men's meet, sophomore Jason Staggers (Jackson,
N.J.) qualified for the ECAC Championships in the triple
jump with a leap of 13.31 meters (43-8) to place seventh. He
also was fifth in the long jump (6.43m/21-01.25).
Junior Ryan Hebron (Middle Township, N.J.) was
eighth in the shot put (12.76m/41-10.50), while junior
Nelson Stryker (Milltown, N.J.) was
10th in the 100-meter dash (11.39) and freshman
Alvin Davis (Paterson, N.J.) finished
10th in the 400-meter hurdles (58.67).
The Cougars return to action on April 21, when they compete at
the CTC Championships on the campus of DeSales University in Center
Valley, Pa..
