Cougars Compete at Lions' Invitational
EWING, N.J. (4/28/07) - The Kean University men's and
women's track teams had their final tune-up before the New Jersey
Athletic Conference Championships next weekend, competing at the
Lions' Invitational at The College of New Jersey on Saturday
afternoon.
The Cougars had numerous top 10 finishes in the meet that
featured NCAA Division I, II and III competition.
Sophomore Jason Staggers (Jackson, N.J.) had a
strong showing, placing third in the long jump (6.70
meters/21-11.75), fourth in the triple jump (12.54 meters/41-1.75)
and 10th in the 400-meter dash (52.17).
Freshman Alvin Davis (Paterson, N.J.) was third
in the 400-meter hur dles (56.03) to qualify for the upcoming ECAC
Championships, while junior Nelson Stryker (Milltown,
N.J.) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.78).
In women's action, sophomore Sherene Stephens
(Orange, N.J.) was third in the triple jump (10.79
meters/35-5) and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the
100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.96 seconds.
Sophomore Erin Jones (Upper Saddle River, N.J.)
was tied for seventh in the pole vault with a season-high jump of
2.75 meters (9-00.25), while senior Liz Bauer (Rahway,
N.J.) was seventh in the javelin with a throw of 30.78
meters (101-00).
The Cougars return to The College of New Jersey next weekend,
Saturday, May 5, when they compete at the NJAC Championships.
