Track and Field Competes at Princeton
Relays
PRINCETON, N.J. (1/26/08) - The Kean University
men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the
Princeton Relays hosted by Princeton University on Saturday
afternoon.
Freshman Marques Wallace (Vauxhall, N.J.) led the
Cougars with a pair of top five finished in the 60-meter and
200-meter dashes. Wallace posted a team-high fourth-place
finish in the 200, crossing the finish line in 23.47 seconds.
In the 60-meter dash, Wallce finished in 7.29 seconds to place
fifth, while junior Seun Oyelaja (Lagos, Nigeria)
placed seventh in 7.41 seconds.
Other top 10 men's finishers included junior Reggie
James (Willingboro, N.J.) and freshman Matt Gough
(Jefferson, N.J.) placing eighth (53.84) and ninth
(54.06), respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Freshman
Brian Vanderstad (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) placed
ninth in the shot put with a distance of 14.41 meters (47-03.50),
while the men's 1600-meter relay team of James, Oyelaja, freshman
Chris Pegeron (Plainfield, N.J.) and junior
Chris Kosinski (Jersey City, N.J.) placed ninth in
a time of 3:49.54.
On the women's side, the 1600-meter relay team of freshman
Asha Winters (Ewing, N.J.), freshman
Alyssa Crosby (Hackensack, N.J.), junior
Erin Jones (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and
sophomore Tyher'Rah Thomas (South Plainfield,
N.J.) finished sixth in a time of 4:52.23.
Thomas added a 10th-place finish in the 1000-meter
run (3:36.16), while Jones finished seventh in the 500-meter dash
(1:44.12).
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, February 2, when they
participate in the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus
College.
