Track Concludes Season at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (5/16/08) - The Kean University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the 2008 campaign at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Championships.

Rookie thrower Jan Bush (Abington, Pa.) recorded the team's best finish, placing 10th in the shot put with a toss of 11.56 meters (37-11.25). 

The women's 400-meter relay team of freshmen Asha Winters (Ewing, N.J.), Marisa Petrone (Jefferson Township, N.J.) and Jamie Grenger (Hazlet, N.J.) and junior Demeka Pressley (Trenton, N.J.) finished 12th in a time of 51.28 seconds. 

In the men's meet, freshman Josh Chavanne (Elizabeth, N.J.) competed in a pair of events, finishing 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (55.90) and 18th in the pole vault (4.10 meters/13-5.25).

Freshman John Badala (Scotch Plains, N.J.) added a 14th-place showing in the shot put (13.58 meters/44-06.75) and junior Jason Staggers (Jackson, N.J.) finished 23rd in the long jump with a leap of 6.35 meters (20-10).

On the track, both relay teams finished 18th , as the 400-meter relay team of freshmen Joe DiMeglio (Metuchen, N.J.) and Marques Wallace (Vauxhall, N.J.), junior Seun Oyelaja (Lagos, Nigeria) and Staggers finished in 44.03, while the 1600-meter relay squad crossed the finish line in 3:26.81.

Oyelaja placed 22nd in the 200-meter dash (22.81) and freshman Matt Gough (Jefferson, N.J.) was 24th in the 400-meter dash (50.78).
