COOPER, JACKMAN SWEEP NJAC WEEKLY HONORS
PITMAN, N.J. (2/12/07) - Junior center Chari' Cooper (Paulsboro,
N.J.) and freshman guard Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) swept the
New Jersey Athletic Conference weekly awards, as announced by the
conference office on Monday afternoon. The Cougars won their 20th
game of the season following a 2-0 week in which Kean clinched the
top seed for the NJAC South Division in the upcoming conference
tournament.
Cooper averaged 16.0 points and 20.0 rebounds in her first two
starts of the season last week. Against CUNY conference leader
Baruch College, Cooper had 11 points and a game-high 20 rebounds in
the 86-81 overtime victory. She followed that up with her fourth
career 20-20 game, as she posted 21 points, 20 rebounds, three
blocks and three steals in a pivotal 68-62 win at Richard Stockton
College in the South Division match-up.
For the season, the two-time NJAC Player of the Week leads the
team and conference in rebounding (10.7 per game), while also
averaging 9.0 points per game.
Jackman earned Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this
season, as she averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists
off the bench. Against Baruch, the freshman scored 14 points and
dished out three assists. She added 11 points and four assists in
the victory at Richard Stockton. The rookie is fourth on the team
in scoring (8.0 points per game).
The Cougars return to Harwood Arena for their final regular
season home contest on Wednesday, February 14, when they take on
Rowan University in a NJAC South Division match-up. Tip-off is set
for 6 p.m.
