BEYRUTI, JACKMAN SWEEP NJAC WEEKLY AWARDS

PITMAN, N.J. (2/26/07) - Sophomore Melissa Beyruti (Union City, N.J.) and freshman Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) swept this week's New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) weekly awards as announced by the conference office Monday, February 26th.

Beyruti earns Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this season, after sending the Cougars to their league-leading 11th NJAC title and in turn the conferences automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament. In Saturday's title game, with the score knotted at 59 all and just 6.3 seconds left in the game, Beyruti took a pass from sophomore Ebony Jackson and with three defenders around her, nailed the game-winner with a trey at the buzzer to win the crown. In all last week she recorded 36 points and seven three-pointers. She now has a Kean record 97 treys this season.

Jackman earns Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this year. Jackman registered 13 points in last week's tournament games.
