Beyruti Selected NJAC Player of the Week
Pitman, N.J. (3/10/08) - Junior guard
Melissa Beyruti (Union City, N.J.) has been tabbed
as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week as
announced by the conference office on Monday.
Beyruti earns the final NJAC Player of the Week selection, her
third of the season, after averaging 30.0 points and 6.0 rebounds
per game during Kean's victories in the first two rounds of the
NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. She opened the
tournament with 29 points, five rebounds, and three assists in an
83-76 first round win over Utica. One day later, she became the
Cougars' all-time leading scorer with a season-high 31 points on
11-of-17 shooting from the field and 8-of-14 shooting from
three-point range in a 95-61 second round win over Brandeis. A
first-team all-conference selection, she broke the school's career
scoring record as just a junior and eclipsed the 100 three-point
field goal plateau for the second consecutive season.
Beyruti currently leads the NJAC in scoring (18.8 points per
game), free throw percentage (.813), and three-point field goals
made per game (3.40).
