Powell Named NJAC Player of the Week

PITMAN, N.J. (3/8/10) - Sophomore guard Brittany Powell (Tinton Falls, N.J.) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week after averaging 18.0 points per game in a pair of NCAA Tournament victories for Kean. 

In the NCAA tourney opener against Penn State Berk, Powell scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field in the Cougars' 105-68 win.  One night later, she recorded a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, while adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Kean's 75-68 NCAA second round win over Tufts University.

The Cougars advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the third time in the last four years and face Bowdoin College in the NCAA Sectional on Friday, March 11, at Kean.
