Galloway, N.J. (1/25/12) – Senior Danielle McFadden recorded a double-double as she helped the #21/24 Kean University women's basketball team improve to 8-0 in conference play by defeating host Richard Stockton College, 72-53, Wednesday evening.
With the win the Cougars are 17-3 overall and 8-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The loss drops Stockton to 12-7 and 4-4 in conference play.
Ahead by just one point (13-12) Kean would score nine straight points thanks to four different Cougars and lead 22-12 midway through the first half. Kean would lead by as many as 15 in the first 20 minutes and took a 37-24 advantage into the break. McFadden recorded five points and 10 rebounds while teammate Naimah Clemons added eight points and three assists.
The Ospreys sprinted out of the gate in the second half, scoring nine straight points to pull within four (36-32) but Kean responded with a run of their own as McFadden and Clemons scored four points each on back-to-back buckets to give the Cougars a double-digit cushion. Kean then controlled the rest of the second half, leading by as many as 28.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host New Jersey City University at 1 p.m.
