Kean Women to Face Messiah in NCAA Opening Round

UNION, N.J. (2/27/12) – The Kean University women’s basketball team will face Messiah College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 2, at University of Mary Washington.

The Cougars (22-5) appear in the NCAA tournament for the sixth straight season and will face the Falcons for the second time this season, after defeating Messiah, 87-67, back in December.

The Kean/Messiah winner will face off against the winner of University of Mary Washington and Keuka College on Saturday evening.

The Cougars and Falcons (21-5) each earned at-large bids to the tournament.  Mary Washington (27-0) captured the Capital Athletic Conference Championship, while Keuka (19-5) won the North Eastern Conference Championship. 

Kean faced eight teams in the NCAA tournament, posting a 6-3 record in nine games.
