Grantham, Pa. (11/16/12) – Eastern Mennonite University used a strong first half to power past the Kean University women's basketball team by the final of 90-56, Friday afternoon at the Hampton Inn Tip-Off.
Sophomore AnnaRose Pierre recorded a team-high 14 points in the loss for the Cougars (0-1).
The Royals (1-0) jumped out to a quick 16-2 lead in the first seven minutes of action to pace the action. EMU continued to widen the lead and headed into the break with a 51-25 advantage.
Pierre led Kean with eight first-half points, while senior Kyanne Sager added five rebounds.
Eastern Mennonite then controlled the second half to close out with the win.
Sager finished with seven rebounds while rookie Caitlin Orlando recorded 12 points in the collegiate debut.
The Cougars will play in the consolation matchup of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off at noon on Saturday.
