Ramapo Pushes Past Women's Basketball

Mahwah, N.J. (11/28/12) – The Ramapo College women's basketball team used a strong first-half to push past Kean University by the final of 65-57, Wednesday evening.

Rookie Sharell Lowe led all players with 15 points in the loss for the Cougars.

Ramapo (5-0) stretched their lead to double-digits midway through the first period as Jackie Jerkovich hit a jumper to give the Roadrunners a 20-9 advantage.  Ramapo pushed their lead to as many as 20 points in the first 20 minutes before Kean (1-3) closed out the period with a 7-0 run, putting the score at 35-22 at the break.

Sophomore Shanice Jones tallied seven points and three steals while Pierre added six points and five rebounds.

It was Kean's turn in the second half, as the Cougars outscored the Roadrunners, 35-30, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.  Lowe (pictured left) registered 11 points in the second half, while senior Kyanne Sager tallied eight points playing all 20 minutes.

For the evening, sophomore AnnaRose Pierre recorded 14 points while adding nine rebounds.  Jones finished with 12 points and four rebounds.

Kean returns to action on Saturday in their home opener when they face The College of New Jersey.
