Strong Second Half Lifts Kean Past Chestnut Hill

UNION, N.J. (03/15/08) - Attacks Stephanie Cirino, Amanda South and Rosalia Romeo combined for 15 goals and six assists to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team past Chestnut Hill College, 20-11, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Romeo (Ridgewood, N.J.) led the Cougars (3-1) with six goals, while South (Fairless Hills, Pa.) had a team-high three assists.

Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Jordan (Tylersport, Pa.) made 15 saves for the Griffins (1-3).

Kean scored nine straight goals spanning the first and second halves to break a 9-9 tie and take an 18-9 lead with 11:36 remaining in the game.

Romeo added two assists to finish with a team-high eight points, while South had four goals to go alongwith her three assists for seven points.  Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) had five goals and an assist in the victory, while sophomore Chelsea Davis (Livingston, N.J.) had two goals, four draw controls and three groundballs in an all-around effort.

For the Griffins, sophomore Maryanne Glass (Baltimore, Md.) and junior Sarah Possinger (Schnecksville, Pa.) each had four goals.

The Cougars travel to Hood College on Monday, March 17, in non-conference action at 3 p.m.
