Gwynedd-Mercy Pushes Past Kean, 19-13

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (3/14/09) - Sophomore Amanda South (Fairless, Pa.) scored a team-high six goals but it wasn't enough as Gwynedd-Mercy College defeated the Cougars, 19-13, Saturday afternoon.

After Gwynedd (2-1) scored the game's first three goals, the Cougars (0-2) answered with three of their own as the teams were tied in the first 10 minutes of the contest.

From there, GMC rattled off four straight for a 7-3 edge midway through the stanza. Kean rallied to get it to 8-6 at halftime.

The Griffins pulled ahead for good, outscoring Kean, 4-1, over the first seven minutes of the second half.

Junior Julie Bachovchin (Piscataway, N.J.) added three goals while Nicole Torre (Toms River, N.J.) added two.
