PITMAN, N.J. (5/6/09) - Senior
Stephanie Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) and sophomore
Amanda South (Fairless, Pa.) were each named to
the inaugural New Jersey Athletic
Conference women's lacrosse all-conference first-team, as voted on
by the league's five head coaches and announced by the conference
office on Wednesday.
Junior defender Chelsea Davis (Livingston, N.J.), who joined South and Cirino on the Skyline Conference first-team announced earlier this week, earned NJAC honorable mention honors, as the Cougars finished 1-3 in the first season of NJAC play, while also posting a 4-3 mark in the Skyline.
Despite missing the first four games of the season, Cirino
(pictured right) led the team in goals (50) and was second in
points (57), ranking third in the conference in goals per game
(3.57) and sixth in points per game (4.07). She closed out
her career ranking in the top three in four different categories,
as she was finished first in shots
(373), second in assists (38) and points (191) and third in goals
(153) in 61 career games.
South (pictured left) led the team in points (73) and set the new school record with 25 assists, as her 48 goals were second on the team. She also ranked third in the Skyline in assists per game (1.47) and fifth in points per game (4.29). In just two season, South already ranks first in career assists (49) and fourth in both career goals (108) and career points (157).
The team's top defender, Davis lead both the Skyline and New Jersey Athletic Conferences with 2.12 caused turnovers a game, while her 3.69 draw controls per game rank second in the Skyline. She also added 11 goals and four assists, while leading the team in groundballs (58).
