Cannon Propels Women's Lacrosse Past Lycoming, 18-8

Williamsport, Pa. (3/3/12) – Junior Lyndsey Cannon scored a game-high eight goals to send the Kean University women's lacrosse team to an 18-8 win over Lycoming College in the Cougars' season opener on Saturday afternoon.

Lycoming (0-1) and Kean (1-0) exchanged goals throughout the first 20 minutes of action, but the Cougars broke through scoring four straight to end the first half, as Cannon netted three and junior Stephanie Tocko added one to take a 9-5 advantage.

The Cougars didn't stop after the break, scoring five more in the next 17 minutes to take a comfortable 14-5 lead.

Junior Jules Keeley picked up the win in net as she recorded eight saves in just over 57 minutes of action.

Offensively, Cannon added an assist and seven draw controls to her game-high eight goals.  Tocko (pictured left) finished the afternoon with four goals and three assists good for seven points.  She also registered four groundballs and two draw controls.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday when they host Western Connecticut State University at 4 p.m.
