UNION, N.J (3/9/13) – Goalkeeper Jules Keeley made 13 saves on the way to Kean University's dominant 16-4 victory over in-state rival Centenary College on Saturday. With the win over the previously undefeated Cyclones, Kean raised its record to 3-1.
After nearly 10 scoreless minutes to open the game, Kean began the scoring with a free position goal by Lyndsey Cannon (pictured left). Centenary tied it up on a goal by Allie Swartz one minute later, but after that Samantha Gnapp scored two goals in 23 seconds to give Kean the lead for good.
Perhaps the most impressive stat of the game belonged to Keeley, who prevented all eight of the Cyclones' free position opportunities from reaching the back of the net to keep the game out of reach. The senior finished with 13 saves and allowed just three goals on the day.
Kean split its scoring evenly with eight goals in each half. Cannon and Julie Knodt both notched hat tricks, and Cannon led all players with five points on the day.
The Cougars' next game will be in Kissimmee, Florida on Wednesday against Thomas College.
