Women’s Lacrosse Falls Just Short at Rowan
GLASSBORO, N.J. (4/16/13) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team was within one goal with 16 minutes remaining but could not find the equalizer in a 12-9 setback at Rowan University on Tuesday. Senior Lyndsey Cannon (pictured left) led Kean with five points on the night.
The Profs scored the first three goals, but captains Ciara Mastrodomenico and Cannon scored the next two to close up the gap. Stephanie Tocko scored two in the first half and Marissa Santiago added one but the Cougars trailed 8-5 at the break.
Mastrodomenico began the scoring in the second period, and after a Rowan goal Tocko and Cannon each struck again as Kean cut the lead down to one at 9-8. But the Profs netted the next three in a row to slowly pull away and earn the NJAC victory. Becca Wood led all players with five goals for Rowan.
Goalteneder Jules Keeley forced the Profs to miss 10 of their 11 free-position opportunities to keep Kean within striking distance all night long.
Kean will close out the regular season with two home dates, beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. against SUNY College at Old Westbury.
