Balanced Scoring Attack Gives Women's Lacrosse 16-4 Win

UNION, N.J. (4/18/13) - Senior attack Stephanie Tocko tallied four goals and an assist, while sophomore Meghan Schneck and freshman Samantha Gnapp each scored three goals, as the Kean University women's lacrosse team defeated the College at Old Westbury, 16-4 in Skyline action.

Tocko helped the Cougars (11-5, 6-3 Skyline) jump out to an early 4-0 lead just five minutes into the contest by scoring three of her goals during the opening stretch. After Joanna Kettell scored for the Panthers (2-15, 1-9 Skyline) to make it 4-1, the Cougars outscored Old Westbury 9-1 over the final 25 minutes of the opening stanza. Senior Lyndsey Cannon chipped in with one goal and two assists during the first half, while Schneck (pictured left) recorded her hat trick in the final 15 minutes of the half.

The Cougars scored the first three goals of the second half, as Gnapp was able to record her second and third goals of the contest in the opening 15 minutes of the second half. Kettell and Jordan Schildt were able to score for the Panthers, but the Cougars held tough on defense, limiting the Panthers to a single shot on goal over the final nine minutes.

The duo of Jules Keeley and Alyssa Staffin split time in net, with Keeley recording the win and making one save, and Staffin making two saves. Sara Braverman made eight saves for the Panthers.

The Cougars are home Saturday, April 20th, as they take on Skyline Conference foe The Sage Colleges, with first draw at 1 p.m. Before the game, the Cougars will honor the senior class of 2013.  The Panthers will close out their Skyline Conference regular season on Saturday, as they take on Maritime College at 1 p.m.
