Senior Day Surge Sends Women's Lacrosse Past Sage, 18-4

UNION, N.J. (4/20/13) - Seniors Stephanie Tocko and Lyndsey Cannon combined for three goals and five assists during the opening 30 minutes, and the Kean University Women's Lacrosse team never looked back, as they defeated The Sage Colleges, 18-4.

The Cougars (12-5, 7-3 Skyline) controlled the game from the opening draw, outscoring the Gators (4-10, 3-7 Skyline) 13-0 during the opening stanza. Cannon opened the scoring at the 4:39 into the game. Tocko would add two goals in the first half, while freshman Maggie Brocklebank added four goals and junior Julie Knodt added three goals during the first 30. The Cougars outshot the Gators 33-2 in the first stanza, while winning 14 draw controls.

The Gators were able to get on the board in the second half, scoring four times. Mallory Hansen added three goals, while Alexa Pajak also added a tally for the Gators. Kayla Sebastian added the first two goals of her collegiate career during the second half.

Jules Keeley and Alyssa Staffin combined to make three saves in the victory for the Cougars, while Courtney Reed made eight saves for the Gators.

The Cougars will host Mt. St. Mary College on Tuesday in the first round of the Skyline Tournament.
