Union, N.J. (4/23/13) – Senior Lyndsey Cannon led the way with seven goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team breezed past Mt. St. Mary College in the opening round of the Skyline Tournament by the final of 24-8 Tuesday evening.
Cannon added an assist and five draw controls as the Cougars improve to 13-5 this season. With the win, Kean advances to take on top seed Farmingdale State College on Thursday afternoon at 4p.m. in Long Island. The Knights fall to 10-8 with the loss, they were ledy by sophomore Danielle Krupka with two goals.
Kean controlled the entire matchup, coasting out to a 4-0 lead in the first four minutes of action. Mt. St. Mary was only able to pull within three on two separate occasions early, but the Cougars took advantage of opportunities and headed into the break with a 16-6 lead.
The Cougars closed out the contest with seven straight goals as eight different players recorded marks in the matchup.
Kean had four players who added hat-tricks in senior Stephanie Tocko, junior Julie Knodt, sophomore Maggie Brocklebank and freshman Samantha Gnapp. Rookie Jordan Blanda (pictured left) notched a team-high seven draw controls.
