UNION, N.J. (3/1/14) – Seven different Cougars recorded goals, including five by Samantha Gnapp, as the Kean University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 18-2 victory over Centenary College on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Blanda scored the first of her three goals just 20 seconds into the contest to set the pace for the Cougars (1-0). Before the game was 10 minutes old, the Cougars had a comfortable 4-0 lead, and did not look back from there. The Cougars pushed the lead to 8-0 as seniors Julie Knodt and Ciara Mastrodomenico scored 14 seconds apart.
The Cougars were able to tack on five more goals in the second stanza, and the Cyclones (0-1) were able to get two past Daniella Wagenti, who in her first game as the Cougars goalkeeper, made several key saves, finishing the game with six. Blanda ended the day with a team high 13 draw controls, and Maggie Brocklebank added three goals and five assists.
The Cyclones had goals from Carlie Schmitt and Devin Sutko, while Andrea Wisniewski finished with four saves for the Cyclones.
The Cougars continue their home slate on Wednesday, March 5, as they take on Manhattanville at Alumni Stadium at 4pm.
