Second Half Rally Sends Women's Lacrosse Past Widener, 11-10

Chester, Pa. (3/22/14) – Senior Carly Seidel broke a 10-all deadlock with a free-position goal in the waning minutes to give the Kean University women's lacrosse team an 11-10 win over Widener University  on Saturday.

The Cougars (5-2) rallied in the second half after trailing 7-3 at halftime.  With just under 15 minutes left in the contest, Kean erased the deficit and tied the game at 8-8 as Meghan Schneck tallied her third goal of the game.  After trading single goals again, the Cougars took their first lead of the day as Schneck notched her team-leading fourth goal of the afternoon.  That lead was shortly erased as Widener (0-6) responded a minute later to tie the game back up at 10-all.  Seidel (pictured left) then scored the game-winner with her only goal of the afternoon on a free-position shot with 3:06 on the clock.

Junior Maggie Brocklebank and sophomore Jordan Blanda each tallied two goals on the afternoon while Blanda and senior Ciara Mastrodomenico recorded four draw controls apiece.

The Cougars stay on the road and will travel to Arcadia University on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. start.
