Profs Push Past Women's Lacrosse

Union, N.J. (4/5/14) – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team sprinted out to a 7-0 lead on their way to topping Kean University by the final of 18-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both on Saturday.

Junior Becca Wood led the Profs (7-2, 1-0 NJAC) with five goals while senior Ciara Mastrodomenico added a pair for the Cougars (6-4, 0-1 NJAC).

Rowan surged out of the gate, scoring the first seven goals of the day as Wood capped off the run with a hat-trick with three consecutive goals.  Mastrodomenico (pictured left) broke the streak with a goal at the 12:05 mark and followed with her second goal of the afternoon seven minutes later.  The Profs headed into the break with an 8-2 lead as Wood notched her fourth goal with just over two minutes remaining before the half.

Rowan then paced the second half as six different players recorded goals on their way to their first NJAC win of the season.

Senior Julie Knodt and junior Meghan Schneck added single goals for Kean, while Rowan's Brittany Bollendorf added four goals and an assist.

Kean will continue NJAC play as they travel to take on Montclair State University on Tuesday, April 8th at 7 p.m.
