Women's Lacrosse Propels Past Mt. St. Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. (3/21/17)Emily Stasuk led all players with five goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team bounced back with a 20-7 win over host Mt. St. Mary College on Tuesday evening.

In addition to her five goals, Stasuk also added two assists, six draw controls and caused a turnover.  With the win the Cougars improve to 6-1 on the season.

Kean jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead as Andrea Trentacosti netted the game's first goal 22 seconds into the action off an assist from Taylor Hynes.  Trentacosti then assisted on the next marker fed to Meghan Tillger three minutes later.  The Blue Knights (0-3) tied things up by scoring the next two goals thirty seconds apart (23:31 and 23:02).  That would be as close as they would get as the Cougars went on to score four straight to take the lead for good.  The Cougars would score another six before halftime to take a commanding 12-4 lead into the break.

At the half, Morgan Graham (pictured left) and Stasuk each registered three goals.

Kean then cruised in the second half on their way to the win.

Goalkeeper Nikki Apostolopoulos tallied four saves in just under 50 minutes while Samantha Drew had a save in the final 10 minutes.

Offensively, Danni LeSaint and Graham ended the night with three goals each.  Junior Krista LaMaina posted two goals, two assists, five draw controls and caused a turnover.

Kean returns to action on Thursday when they host Wesleyan University.
