Galloway, N.J. (11/10/12) – The Kean University women's soccer team advanced to the ECAC Metro Championship as they edged Mt. St. Mary College, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in semifinal action.
The #2 Cougars (12-5-4) will face #1 Richard Stockton College in the championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
In today's action, junior Shannon Pedersen broke a one-all tie in the 79th minute on a long free kick. Senior Carly Seidel got things started for the Cougars as she scored the match's first goal just three minutes into the game. Mt. St. Mary (16-4-1) tied things up with a header off one of their three corner opportunities of the day late in the first half.
Rookie KC Nunez tallied five saves in the win.
