Women’s Soccer Locks Up #4 Seed with Shutout Victory over Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. (10/25/17) - Kaitlyn Pallitto scored and assisted on a goal as the Kean University women's soccer team closed the 2017 regular season with a 2-0 shutout victory over Ramapo College on Wednesday afternoon.

Lexy Monroy also finished with a goal and an assist for the Cougars, who improve to 11-6-1 and 4-4 in the NJAC.  Skyler Rybacki recorded two shots for the Roadrunners who fall to 4-12 overall and 2-7 in the NJAC.

The Cougars controlled possession of the ball in the opening stanza, outshooting the Roadrunners 9-1. Kean answered first when Pallitto played a through ball to Monroy, who beat the keeper one-on-one for the score.

Monroy returned the favor to Pallitto in the second half, when she played a cross to the senior. After having her initial shot saved, the ball bounced back to her and she calmly scored in the open net.

Mallory Noordeloos took three shots, while Emily Jurcsek tallied two and Casey McDonnell made four saves in the victory. Nani Vizcaino, Jessica Raccioppi and Liana Chirichiello each tallied a shot for Ramapo.

With the victory, Coach Doherty and the Cougars have secured a #4 seed in the NJAC tournament and will host Stockton University at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.
