Cougars Claw Past CSI, 6-1

Staten Island, N.Y. (10/4/07) - The Kean University women's tennis team traveled the short trip across the bridge and defeated the College of Staten Island, 6-1, in a shortened match Thursday afternoon.

In doubles competition, the pair of Kareisha Questal (South Brunswick, N.J.) and Olivia Shapiro (Beachwood, N.J.) won 8-1 at second doubles while the combination of Jessica Oquendo (North Bergen, N.J.) and Katherine Arauz (Newark, N.J.) also won by the score of 8-1 at third doubles.

In singles competition, the Cougars swept all matches that were completed before dark.  Freshman LaShanna Armour (Union, N.J.) won at third singles (6-0, 6-1) while Shapiro (6-1, 6-4), Arauz (6-0, 6-0) and Oquendo (6-1, 6-2) won at fourth, fifth and sixth singles respectively.

Kean returns to NJAC action on Saturday, October 6th as they travel to Richard Stockton College at noon.
