Women's Tennis Competes at NJAIAW Tournament

Madison, N.J. (10/2/11) – The Kean University women's tennis team recently competed in the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Tournament held at Drew University.

Freshman Melanie Strollo was the consolation bracket winner of Flight C.  After falling to Dhaneya Kumar of Rutgers-Newark (8-2), she then went on to defeat Justine Lawson of William Paterson University (8-4) and Karissa Barongan also of William Paterson (6-2, 6-1).

Rookie Erika Tapia defeated Barongan (WPU) in first round action of Flight C, 8-1, before falling to Vanessa Vogel of St. Peter's College, 8-2.

Sophomore Jaelynn Lee fell to Chelsea Lipp of Drew University in the first round of Flight B, but would go on to defeat Michelle Kvitnitsky of Rutgers-Newark, 8-4.  She eventually fell to Liz D'Arcy, 8-2 (Monmouth University).
