Women's Tennis Posts 9-0 Win Over John Jay
Union, N.J. (10/11/11) – The Kean University women’s tennis team defeated visiting John Jay College, 9-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars improve to 5-3 overall while John Jay drops to 1-5 this
season.
Kean was led by junior Lauren Petrucelli who won at first singles (6-0, 6-0) and paired with sophomore Jaelynn Lee for an 8-0 win at first doubles. Lee was also victorious (6-0, 6-0) in fourth singles while the pair of sophomore Debra Dress (pictured left) and rookie Melanie Strollo won by an 8-0 score at second doubles. Strollo and Dress both won their singles matches by default.
Rookies Erin Hendricks and Erika Tapia each won at third and fifth singles, (6-0, 6-1) and (6-0, 6-0).
Kean returns to action on Thursday when they host Rutgers-Newark in a rescheduled NJAC match.
