Volleyball Falls to Montclair State in Five
Sets
UNION, N.J. (9/12/06) - Kean University senior
outside hitter Liz Bauer (Rahway, N.J.) had a
team-high 15 kills and added seven digs, however the Cougars
dropped a tough five-set match (28-30, 30-25, 22-30, 30-27, 3-15)
to visiting Montclair State University in the New Jersey Athletic
Conference opener for both team Tuesday night. MSU improved to 2-4
overall, 1-0 in the conference, while the Cougars suffered their
first setback of the year to fall to 6-1 overall, 0-1 in the
NJAC.
For the victorious Red Hawks, freshmen middle hitter Anna
Chesnakova (East Brunswick, N.J.) had a game-high 17 kills
and senior middle hitter Heather Aciz (Secaucus,
N.J.) recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Freshman setter Raisa Silva (Newark, N.J.) added 40 assists and a
match-high 14 digs.
In the losing effort, junior outside hitter Alicja Ciastoch
(Teaneck, N.J.) had 12 kills, nine digs and a match-high
six service aces, while freshman setter Colleen Masterson
(Rahway, N.J.) dished out 29 assists and added seven
digs.
The Cougars return to action on Friday, September 15, when they
travel to Reading, Pa., for the Albright College Tournament.
