Volleyball Splits at Albright Tourney

READING, Pa. (9/16/06) - The Kean University volleyball team competed at the Albright College Tournament, where the team finished in third place after going 2-2 over the two-day tournament.

On Friday evening, the Cougars dropped a five-set match to Delaware Valley College (31-29, 28-30, 30-28, 21-30, 11-15), as senior outside hitter Liz Bauer (Rahway, N.J.) finished with 17 kills and seven digs and junior outside hitter Alicja Ciastoch (Teaneck, N.J.) added 15 kills and 23 digs.

In pool play on Saturday morning, the Cougars fell to host Albright (12-30, 18-30, 12-30), before rallying from a two-game deficit to defeat Penn State-Berks (19-30, 31-33, 30-22, 30-10, 15-4).

Later in the afternoon, the Cougars again defeated Penn State-Berks (30-13, 18-30, 30-20, 32-30). Bauer and Ciastoch each had 10 kills, while freshman setter Colleen Masterson (Rahway, N.J.) added 34 assists.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, September 19, when they travel to Wayne, N.J., to take on William Paterson College in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
