Cougar Volleyball Falls to Ramapo, 3-1
UNION, N.J. (10/3/06) - The Ramapo College
Roadrunners topped Kean University, 3-1 (30-22, 19-30, 30-16,
30-20) in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball action
on Tuesday evening. With the win, Ramapo's record improved to 11-8
overall, and 1-3 in the NJAC, while the Cougars fall to 10-7 and
2-3 in conference play.
For the Cougars, senior Liz Bauer (Rahway, N.J.)
had 12 service aces, 15 digs and five kills in the match. Junior
outside hitter Alicja Ciastoch (Teaneck, N.J.) had
a match-high 12 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore setter
Lauren Vazquez (Edgewater, N.J.) added 21 assists,
nine digs and six kills.
Starring in the win for Ramapo was Maureen Hennecke (Fair
Lawn, N.J.) who tallied 10 kills, and five service aces to
lead the Roadrunners. Junior setter Ashley Cornett
(Hawthorne, N.J.) who added 29 assists; Rochelle
Kizhnerman (Paramus, N.J.) had 10 digs and six kills,
while Joli Specia (Ringwood, N.J.) had nine kills,
four service aces and four digs.
The Cougars return to action Friday, October 3 when they take part
in the FDU-Florham Tournament, while Ramapo will play Hunter
College on October 2.
