Ciastoch Propels Cougars Past Rutgers-Newark, 3-1

NEWARK, N.J. (9/20/07) - Senior Alicja Ciastoch (Teaneck, N.J.) had 19 kills, 14 digs and 13 service aces to lead the Kean University volleyball team past Rutgers-Newark, 3-1, in New Jersey Athletic Conference match on Thursday evening. 

The Cougars (3-7, 1-2 NJAC) snapped a five-match losing streak as they defeated the Scarlet Raiders (0-6, 0-2 NJAC) by scores of 30-21, 28-30, 30-23, 30-18.

Rookie Nicole Bolash (Clinton, N.J.) added a career-high 17 kills and 11 digs, while freshman setter Ivana Kapetanovic (East Brunswick, N.J.) dished out a career-high 40 assists.

For the Scarlet Raiders, sophomore Rose Anna Beljour (Hackensack, N.J.) had five kills and nine digs and sophomore Sagan Caldwell (Ramona, Calif.) added five kills and eight digs.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, September 25, when they host Rowan University in NJAC action at 7 p.m.
