Women's VolleyballKean Falls to NJAC Leader New Jersey City UniversityUNION, N.J. (10/11/07) - The Kean University volleyball team fell to New Jersey City University, 3-0, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening. With the straight game victory (30-11, 30-23, 30-8), the conference leading Gothic Knights improved to 21-4 overall, 6-0 NJAC, while the Cougars dropped to 6-14 overall, 2-5 NJAC. Gothic Knight senior middle blocker Lizzelle Cintron (Elizabeth, N.J.) had a match-high eight kills to move into eighth place in NCAA all-time history in career kills, as she now has 2,731 kills in 484 career games.
In the victory, Cintron also added four digs and three total blocks, while junior middle blocker Sarah Torres (Elizabeth, N.J.) had seven kills and three digs. Freshman setter Alex Johanesen (Bridgewater, N.J.) dished out 11 assists to go along with seven digs and two service aces. The Cougars return to action on Saturday, October 13, when they travel to Hackettstown, N.J., for a tri-match with host Centenary College and Cabrini College.
