Rowan Pushes Past Kean, 3-1

UNION, N.J. (10/27/09) - Rowan University freshman Katie Havlicek (Midland Park, N.J.) recorded a double-double with 24 kills and 11 digs to lead the Profs to a 3-1 win over host Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening.

In the tightly contested four-set match (25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 27-25), the Profs held off a Cougar rally in the fourth set after leading 23-18, as the Cougars  tied the match at 24-24, before falling 27-25.

For the Cougars (11-13, 0-8 NJAC), sophomore Jamie Sacco (Park Ridge, N.J.) (pictured right) recorded a career-high 17 kills and added 13 digs. 

Sophomore Tara Richey (Bayonne, N.J.) had 11 kills, while junior Colleen Masterson (Rahway, N.J.) dished out 37 assists and dug out seven balls.  Also for Kean, sophomores Nicole Bolash (Clinton, N.J.) and Mary Aldana (Jersey City, N.J.) combined for 28 kills. 

In the victory for Rowan (12-16, 4-4 NJAC), senior Chelsea Bowman (Penns Grove, N.J.) finished with 12 kills and had two solo and two assisted blocks.  Rookie Megan Mondelli (Wayne, N.J.) had 26 assists and junior libero Casey Roselle (Sparta, N.J.) recorded a match-high 19 digs. 

The Cougars close out the regular season on Saturday, October 31, when Kean takes on Marywood University and University of Scranton at Marywood.
