Women's Volleyball Handles NJCU in Straight Sets

UNION, N.J. (10/11/11) – The Kean University women’s volleyball team used a balanced team effort to defeat New Jersey City University, 3-0, in action on Tuesday evening.

For the Cougars (10-15), 16 difference players saw action in the three-set sweep (25-15, 25-16, 25-23) of the Gothic Knights, as rookie Jennifer Espinal led the team with eight kills and 11 digs.  NJCU (4-11) was led by Jade Medley, who had seven kills.

In the victory, sophomore Kaitlyn Hansen had seven kills and two total blocks, while senior Tara Richey added six kills and had five total blocks.  Senior Lindsay Gordon (pictured left) and freshman Alana Aranjo combined for 29 assists and 11 digs.

Freshman setter Cindy Garcia had a match-high 22 assists for the Gothic Knights, who also received 11 digs and five kills from senior Tabitha Jordan

The Cougars host Richard Stockton College on Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m.
