Women's Volleyball Sweeps in Day One of Cougar Classic

Union, N.J. (9/8/17) – The Kean University women's volleyball team picked up two wins in day one of the Cougar Classic, defeating New York University and Hood College each by 3-1 scores.

Senior Sara Ridgway led all players with a combined 26 kills while hitting .535.  She added 14 total blocks and two aces.

Kean 3, NYU 1 (25-16, 25-22, 25-27, 25-14)

The Cougars racked up 56 kills as Calli Scheuermann, Vikki Stec, Brett Harper and Ridgway all had double-digit kill totals.  Setter Kendall Sonico registered four aces while collecting 32 assists and nine digs.  Libero Kortnee Nelson tallied 15 digs and Jesse Larkin and Andrea Antal combined for nine blocks.

Kean 3, Hood 1 (25-16, 25-16, 24-26, 25-14)

The Cougars held Hood to .088 hitting as Ridgway had an outstanding .682 hitting percentage with 16 kills and just one error.  Eighteen players saw action for Kean as the Cougars evened up their season record at 3-3.
