Sims, Cougar Men Capture Drew Invitational
UNION, N.J. (9/30/06) - Kean University senior
Brian Sims (Matawan, N.J.) won the Drew University
Cross Country Invitational to lead the Cougars to a first-place
finish in men's competition on Saturday morning, while the women's
team placed three finishers at the NJAIAW Championships held at
Richard Stockton University.
Sims completed the 5000-meter course in 17:28, as he completed the
majority of the race with just one shoe after loosing his other
shoe just a half kilometer into the race. Senior Eric
Orozco (Woodbridge, N.J.) finished seventh overall in
18:29, while freshman Kyle Dabkowski (South Amboy,
N.J.) crossed the finish line in 18:37 to place ninth.
In the women's meet, sophomore Stephanie Sinclair
(Ridgefield, N.J.) finished eighth in the 6000-meter race
in 27:24. Sophomore Nicole Calello (Garwood, N.J.)
finished just 10 seconds behind Sinclair to place ninth, while
freshman Sarah Zadoyko (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) was
25th in 34:29.
