Cougars Compete at Highlander Invitational

NEWARK, N.J. (10/8/06) - The Kean University men's and women's cross country team competed at the Highlander Invitational hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology at Branch Brook Park on Sunday morning. The men's team placed seventh among the Division II/III schools, while the women had one competitor in the 39-runner field.

Senior Brian Sims (Matawan, N.J.) was the team's top finisher, as he finished in 28:31 to place fourth in the 8000-meter race. Senior Erick Orozco (Woodbridge, N.J.) crossed the finish line in 31:46 to place 21st, while Jason Guznay (33:40) and Kevin Scribner (33:45) placed 36th and 38th respectively.

Sophomore Nicole Calello (Garwood, N.J.) was the lone Cougar in the women's race, as she finished in 22:20 to place sixth in the 5000-meter race.
