Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Highlander Invitational

NEWARK, N.J. (10/07/07) - The Kean University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Fourth Annual Highlander Invitational hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology at Branch Brook Park on Sunday morning.  The Cougar men finished eighth in the Division II/III race, while the women placed four runners among the 61 runner field.

Sophomore Ashwin Anatharaman (Hightstown, N.J.) placed 15^th in men's 8,000-meter race, finishing in 29:26.55.  Freshman Rolland Ying (East Brunswick, N.J.) finished 29^th (30:32.91), junior Ezra Schwartz (Bloomfield, N.J.) was 52^nd (32:00.42), junior Jason Guznay (Orange, N.J.) placed 55^th (32:15.85) and freshman Justin Schulte (Pennsville, N.J.) was 58^th (32:25.94) to round out the team's top five finishers.

In the women's 5,000-meter race, senior Anna Khorosheva (Ocean, N.J.) continued her best season in a Cougar uniform, as she finished 11^th in 21:47.00.  Freshman Sarah Kovolisky (Cranford, N.J.) finished 21^st (23:03.00), freshman Asha Winters (Ewing, N.J.) was 37^th (25:37.00) and freshman Alejandrina Canelo (Newark, N.J.) placed 47^th (27:22.00).

The Cougars compete at the DeSales Invitational in Center Valley, Pa., next Saturday, October 13.
