UNION, N.J. (4/13/17) – Members of the Kean University field hockey, men’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball programs participated in the annual Kean Dance Marathon last week to raise money for Children’s Specialized Hospital.
Kean Dance marathon is a 12-hour event hosted by the Kean University Greek Senate, celebrating the yearlong fundraising efforts of students benefiting the Hospital, which is located in Mountainside, New Jersey. Since the first Kean Dance Marathon in 2014, KDM has raised over $76,000 for the Children’s Specialized Hospital.
The Children’s Specialized Hospital is the nation’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years of age facing special health challenges — from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities like brain and spinal cord injuries, to developmental and behavioral issues like autism and mental health. The hospital specialists partner with families to make the various therapies and medical treatments more personalized and effective, so children can achieve more of their goals.
Leading up to the event, students involved will register a team and fundraise throughout the year. Teams are encouraged to fundraise through bake sales, donations letters, clothing sales, canning and other creative ways.
This year’s event took place on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 12 noon until 12 midnight in Harwood Arena.
