Union, N.J. (3/3/18) – The Kean University baseball team picked up an 11-8 win over Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon in cold, windy conditions.
Kean improved to 5-3 with the win while Susquehanna fell to 0-4.
The Cougars cruised out to a 5-0 lead with a two spot in the first followed by single runs in the second, fourth and fifth. Nick Polizzano highlighted the scoring with a two out RBI double.
The River Hawks got right back into it, tying things up with a five run sixth. Nick Berger cleared the bases with a double to erase the shutout and later in the frame Tom Giaimo scored on a wild pitch (after reaching on an RBI triple) to knot things up at five-all.
Kean quickly regained the lead and kept it for the duration. The Cougars scored twice on wild pitches to push ahead, 7-5.
For the River Hawks, Berger was 2-for-4 with four RBI.
In total there were 23 walks, six errors, 10 wild pitches, four passed balls and three hit batters in the contest.
Kean returns to action on Sunday when they host the University of Scranton.
