Pitman, N.J. (4/16/18) – Junior Frank LoGiudice and freshman Justin Diefenbach earned Player of the Week and Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, as announced by the New Jersey Athletic Conference office on Monday.
LoGiudice becomes the second different Cougar to earn NJAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .611 (11-for-18) with a walk, a stolen base, four RBI, and four runs scored in a 3-1 week of NJAC play for Kean. He produced multiple-hit performances in all four games and went a combined 6-for-10 with a stolen base, three RBI, and three runs scored during Kean's 15-10 and 9-8 two-day sweep of rival Montclair State. He wrapped up the week by going a combined 5-for-8 with an RBI and a run scored in an NJAC doubleheader road split at William Paterson.
LoGiudice, who produced the game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth in Kean's comeback home win over MSU, currently leads the NJAC in total hits (42).
Diefenbach earns NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading the Cougars to a key 5-1 NJAC road win at William Paterson. He surrendered just seven hits and one run over 9.0 innings of work for the first complete-game victory of his collegiate career. He also struck out six during his second career victory.
Diefenbach currently ranks fifth in the NJAC in innings pitched (48.0).
