Baseball Pushes Past Moravian, 5-2

Union, N.J. (2/26/19) – The Kean University baseball team pushed their win streak to four with a 5-2 win over Moravian College in non-conference action on Tuesday.

Christopher Rossi (1-0) picked up the win in his first action on 2019.  He allowed two run in five innings of work with three strikeouts as Kean improved to 7-1 this spring.

Rhett Jacoby (0-1) suffered the loss in Moravian's season opener.  He allowed two runs, one earned, in relief with five strikeouts.

The Cougars scratched across single runs in the first and third with an RBI single and double from Frank LoGiudice, scoring John Carello (both times).

The Greyhounds responded and tied things up in the fourth with an RBI sac bunt from Austin Markowski and an RBI double from Tim Heard.

Kean took the lead for good in their half of the fifth as Carello laced an RBI double.  The Cougars would go on to add insurance in the sixth and seventh with single runs as Zachary Marzano crossed the plate on an error and Conner DeForge crossed the plate on a sacrifice after reaching on a leadoff single.

Frank Dente IV earned his second save of the season after tossing four innings of shutout ball.  He allowed one hit, one walk and struck out four.

Offensively Carello was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI while LoGiudice was 2-for-4 with two RBI. 

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host Haverford College.
