Port Charlotte, Fla. (3/13/19) – Damian Yenzi was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the leadoff spot to lead Marietta College to a 5-3 win over the Kean University baseball team on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss drops #24 Kean to 10-4 overall while the win improves Marietta to 4-4 on the season.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second before the Cougars cut the deficit in half with a single run in the second as Zach Joe drove in Nick Polizzano who reached on a leadoff single.
Marietta added two more in the top of the fourth as Yenzi singled up the middle with two outs.
Kean would add two more single runs in the fourth and sixth as Joe singled with two outs to get aboard and after swiping second crossed the plate on a Brandon Johannessen single. Joe added an RBI in the sixth with a groundout.
The Cougars outhit the Pioneers (11-8) as John Carello, Polizzano and Joe each had two.
Kean returns home and will face St. John Fisher College on Sunday.
