Union, N.J. (3/24/19) – Tyler Hopman tossed a complete game, striking out eight, as the Kean University baseball team topped Keystone College by the final of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Hopman (2-2) allowed just one run (a leadoff solo homerun) while scattering seven hits.
Keystone's (3-6) leadoff hitter Mohammed Hussein took an 0-2 pitch and deposited it just over the leftfield fence for the game's first run.
That lead was short-lived as the Cougars (12-6) got that run back in the bottom of the same inning. John Carello got things rolling with a single, quickly stole second and advanced to third on a groundout. He would scamper home on a double steal attempt.
Offensively Carello and Nick Polizzano each had two hits for Kean while Chris Panzarella and Dakota McFadden each had two hits for the Giants.
McFadden (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing four runs, one earned, with six walks and no strikeouts.
Kean returns to action on Tuesday when they face Gwynedd Mercy University in a recently added game.
