Farmingdale, N.Y. (3/27/19) – Farmingdale State College scored two early unearned runs and that was the difference as they defeated the Kean University baseball team by the final of 5-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
Jason Conti was 2-for-2 with two RBI for the Rams (9-5) in the win.
After scoring two unearned runs in the first frame the Rams added a single run in the third as Vincent Rice recorded a two out, RBI single. Farmingdale made it 4-0 in the fourth with an RBI groundout.
Kean got on the board in the sixth, cutting the deficit in half. Michael Lapczynski collected an RBI groundout while the Cougars scored their second run on a wild pitch.
The Cougars inched closer in the seventh as Polizzano doubled home Derek Walker to put the score at 4-3.
That would be as close as Kean would get, however, as the Rams added an insurance run in the eighth while holding Kean scoreless the last two innings.
The Cougars open conference play on Saturday as they travel to Rowan University.
