Galloway, N.J. (4/4/19) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 19 runs on 17 hits as every starter collected a hit and RBI on their way to defeating host Stockton University by the final of 19-7 on Thursday afternoon in NJAC action.
The Cougars (15-8, 2-1 NJAC) picked up the first run of the day with a single run in the first. John Carello led the game off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice. Frank LoGiudice drove him in with a groundout and a quick 1-0 lead.
The Ospreys (11-6, 1-2 NJAC) responded by tying the game in the first and taking the lead in the second with a five spot. That lead was short-lived as Kean quickly took the lead back with nine runs in the third frame. Highlighting the inning was a two RBI double by Carello and a two RBI single by Marzano.
Carello was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI in the leadoff spot while Scire was 2-for-3 with three RBI in the win.
Daniel Chiusano earned the win in relief. Chiusano (2-1) tossed five and a third innings allowing just one run and six hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Kean and Stockton will have to wait until Sunday to finish the home-and-home series as weather has postponed the Friday matchup. That means Kean will next face William Paterson University in doubleheader fashion on Saturday at Jim Hynes Stadium.
