Baseball Breezes By Ramapo, 14-6

Mahwah, N.J. (4/11/19) – The Kean University baseball team pounded out 14 runs and 14 hits on their way to defeating Ramapo College by the final of 14-6 on Thursday afternoon.

Zachary Marzano was 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBI, helping his own cause as he earned his first win on the mound in his first start of the season.  Marzano (1-0) tossed seven innings allowing two runs and five hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

The Cougars (18-10, 5-2 NJAC) jumped out with two runs in their first at-bat as John Carello came around to score on a Frank LoGiudice single.  LoGiudice would later score on a groundout.

The Roadrunners (14-10, 4-3 NJAC) scratched a single run across in the third as Liam Duffy singled home Kyle Lisa who reached on a leadoff double. 

Kean then blew the game open with 12 runs over the next three innings.

Offensively Carello was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI while Chris Vetter, Mike Perone, Nick Polizzano and LoGiudice each had two hits and two RBI.

The two teams will be back at it on Friday at Jim Hynes Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m.
